Dolce Vita
The April 2016 meeting between Charlie Adelson and Katherine Magbanua at this South Florida pizza restaurant was covertly recorded during the FBI undercover operation and introduced as prosecution conspiracy evidence. The audio/video recording (Exhibit 116) was played for the jury during the Magbanua retrial; Magbanua testified on direct that Adelson never mentioned a murder at the meeting. An investigator also assessed the restaurant's acoustics post-event, describing the space as small and intimate, roughly comparable in size to the courtroom.
About
Dolce Vita is the evidentiary anchor for the 2016 undercover operation: the covert recording made here was cited in prosecution opening statements across all three trials, examined through direct and cross testimony of the FBI agent and Magbanua herself, and replayed in response to a jury question during deliberations in the Magbanua retrial. Its consistent presence across 22 proceedings in all three trials reflects its role as one of the primary recorded-communication exhibits the prosecution used to connect Charlie Adelson and Magbanua after Dan Markel's murder.
