Kelsey Guay, a digital-forensics examiner, testified for the defense on Day 7 about her review of call-detail records associated with Donna, Charlie, and Harvey Adelson. She explained how overlapping date ranges, voicemail routing, and network-generated rows can create multiple records for a single call event, making manual review necessary when calculating communication totals.

Guay said she could not reproduce a chart total of 417 communications between Donna and Charlie. For a separate period, she counted 69 unique connected or attempted call events rather than 80. After deduplicating Donna's records from May 2 through July 20, she identified 211 unique call events.

In the July 18 records she reviewed, Guay did not find Donna's handset connecting to a tower that could cover Charlie's home or the two handsets connecting to the same tower. She acknowledged that she had not received an AT&T master cell-site list and did not dispute the cell-site mapping presented at trial. She also agreed that the frequency reports accurately represented the raw records and that Charlie was Donna's most frequent contact during the specified period, while maintaining that duplicate events could affect the totals.

Guay testified that an iCloud message stating "Outside your house" contained no location data and that she found no call to the identified Annie Cunningham number from noon through midnight on July 18. She explained that third-party app communications appear as data transactions in carrier records, which could not establish whether a particular app-based call occurred. After recross established that Donna used ordinary voice calls with other people that day, Guay identified three calls shown between 8:30 p.m. and 1:00 a.m. that night. She also disclosed that her company charged the defense $300 per hour, including travel time, and estimated the trial trip at about $10,000.
