Ronald Witt

Appeared as a prosecution foundation witness during the second day of trial, testifying in a single direct examination identified on the record as "Ronald Witt - Direct." The State called him as "Ron Witt," and he spelled his name for the record as R-O-N-A-L-D W-I-T-T. His employment with T-Mobile's Law Enforcement Relations Group framed the whole of his testimony: he appeared to explain how the carrier generates and keeps the records it produced to law enforcement, not to interpret their contents.

On direct, he described T-Mobile's record-keeping practice — that call and text events are recorded contemporaneously as they occur, kept in the ordinary course of business, and generated through an automated system with minimal human involvement. That account supplied the standard business-records predicate for admitting carrier data. He then confirmed the scope of what TPD had obtained: a tower dump capturing all phones that communicated with cell sites within roughly a one-and-a-half-mile radius of three Tallahassee addresses — Trescott Drive, McLeod Boulevard, and West Tharpe Street — during a specified time frame.

He identified a CD that he had initialed and dated as containing T-Mobile's responsive records, and confirmed those records were consistent with what the company originally provided in 2014. The CD was admitted as State's Exhibit 139 without objection from either defense team. Because the tower dump covered Trescott Drive, his authentication supplied the carrier-side predicate for later cell-site proof, but he did not identify any particular phone, subscriber, or location himself.

The State closed with "Thank you, Mr. Witt. No further questions, Your Honor." Neither Garcia's nor Magbanua's team elected to cross-examine, and the court excused him from further attendance. There was accordingly no cross, redirect, or recross phase, and no credibility challenge, impeachment topic, or bias inquiry appears in the record of his appearance.
