Tallahassee
Dan Markel was shot and killed at his Tallahassee residence on July 18, 2014, the crime underlying all three archived trials. Tallahassee was also the seat of the Markel–Adelson custody dispute; testimony across the Magbanua retrial and Charlie Adelson trial noted that Wendi Adelson had planned to remain in Tallahassee after the divorce — plans that did not materialize following the murder. A residential home-showing tour in Tallahassee surfaced during witness examination in the Donna Adelson trial, and the prosecution's Donna Adelson closing argument explicitly framed the city as both the murder location and the site of custody litigation.
About
Tallahassee appears across all three trials and 11 proceedings because it is the physical locus of both the crime and the domestic dispute prosecutors argued motivated it. Its sustained presence in witness examinations, cross-examinations, and closing arguments — including an explicit prosecutorial framing in the Donna Adelson closing — makes it a structurally significant geographic anchor in the archive record.
