His own circumstances had also changed by then — he was no longer a rental agent but a state trooper — though the defense noted he held no law enforcement role in 2014 and so could not speak to why the citing officer marked the citation as he did. Across both appearances his account remained anchored to the documents rather than to memory, and neither cross-examination disturbed the substance of what that paperwork showed.
