About

Georgia Cappleman was a lead prosecutor in the related trials of Sigfredo Garcia, Katherine Magbanua, Charlie Adelson, and Donna Adelson. In the 2019 joint trial, she opened with the State's allegation that Magbanua connected the Adelsons to Garcia and Luis Rivera. Her examinations traced the suspect Prius, phone contacts, cash, and the 2016 undercover calls, while her cross-examination pressed Magbanua on the Dolce Vita recording, deposits, and changes in phone use. Garcia was convicted of murder and conspiracy but acquitted of solicitation; jurors deadlocked on all three counts against Magbanua, and Judge Hankinson declared a mistrial.

At Magbanua's retrial, Cappleman returned to Rivera's account and the records the State said corroborated it, then argued the State's theory in closing and rebuttal. In Charlie Adelson's trial, she cross-examined him about his extortion explanation, continued payments and contact with Magbanua, and why he had not reported the alleged threat. At Donna Adelson's trial, she elicited testimony about payroll checks and recorded calls, tested defense witnesses' alternative accounts, and argued that family communications, payments, documents, and travel preparations supported the State's conspiracy theory. Later juries found Magbanua guilty on all three counts in 2022, Charlie Adelson guilty on all three in 2023, and Donna Adelson guilty on all three in 2025.
